Opening Reception for Functional Fall: Put A Lid On It

Celebrating our National Call For Entry Exhibition

We had such a wonderful night celebrating makers, lidded ceramics, and friendships during the Opening Reception for our National Call For Entry exhibition Functional Fall: Put A Lid On It. The Reception was held this past weekend, on Saturday, September 7th, from 6-8pm in our gallery. The evening was made more special by having several of the participating artists at the event, and to hear them speak about their work, including, Asta Bubliene, Tim Branch, Pascal Chmelar, Maggie Chow, Jeanne Carreau, Renee Calder, and Paul Noel.

Congratulations to Colin Martin on being chosen for the first juror prize of $300, and to Angel Brame on being the second juror prize winner. Make sure you visit the exhibition online or in the gallery to view these, and all of the artworks between now and October 19th. Free Guided Exhibition and Studio Tours take place weekly at 11.30am beginning in our gallery. This is a great opportunity to see the exhibition, and learn more about Clay Art Center’s history, artist programs, and classes.

Thank you to Doug Peltzman and Jen Allen for doing a terrific job as co-jurors for the exhibition. Your respective insights and considerations led to an exhibition that is as diverse in styles as it is in processes.

Enjoy a selection of photos from the night. Gallery guests included Judy Schwartz from Museum of Ceramic Arts-NY, Assemblyman Steve Otis, and NY Senator Shelley B. Mayer.
