Sublet Policy
CAC Artists who rent private or shared space may sublet their space under certain conditions if personal circumstances result in their inability to use their space for a period of time.
Each sublet request is taken on a case-by-case basis by the Executive Director. Generally, CAC will work with the Artist to accommodate their needs. However, if an Artist’s circumstances have changed such that they have no clear plans to return to active use of their space, we ask that they give up their space to allow someone new to join and have the opportunity to grow as a ceramic artist at CAC.
Subtenants must be able to take over all of the CAC cooperative responsibilities and work within the CAC Artist Guidelines with minimal assistance. As such, they must be approved by the ED and sign a separate sublet agreement.
CAC Artist’s Responsibilities
The Artist should communicate with the ED and Artist Committee that they would like to sublet with as much advance notice as possible indicating the reason and months they would like to have covered.
The ED will reach out to those on the CAC Artist waitlist and, if necessary, CAC teachers for potential candidates. If the Artist knows of someone who would like to sublet, they too should pass the name and contact information along to the ED.
Prior to the start of the sublet, the Artist must remove ALL of their belongings and clean their space so that it is ready for the subtenant. The Artist cannot store anything in the space during the sublet period as this will limit the ability of the subtenant to fully use the space.
While every effort will be made to secure an appropriate person to sublet, if one is not found, the Artist will remain responsible for rental fees and support hours.
