CAC Artist Benefits

Private Spaces
Artists renting one of the 23 private spaces are provided with access to electricity and shelves. They have access to shared wedging boards and slab roller.

Shared Spaces
Artists renting communal space are provided with a bank of individual shelves for storage. They share the large common room that is equipped with electricity, tables, wedging boards, electric wheels, slab roller and a selection of various supplies including scales, bats, molds, boards, etc.

Associate Artists
Associate Artists have use of the glaze & kiln rooms and are assigned a shelf to facilitate glazing & firing. Associate Artists do not have use of the communal studio equipment.

Private, Shared and Associate Artists also have access to the following:

  • Well-stocked glaze materials for glaze mixing. Cone 10 artists have a palette of mixed shared glazes. Cone 6 artists have a very limited palette of mixed shared glazes available.

  • Spray booth

  • Electric and gas kilns

  • 24-hour access to CAC facilities

  • Use of a limited number of parking passes on a first-come-first-serve basis

  • Photo Booth for photographing your own work

New CAC Artists are assigned an artist as a “buddy” to acquaint them with the studio, glaze and firing facilities, as they settle into the CAC artist community.

Exhibiting Status

CAC artists who apply and are approved by the Gallery Committee may sell their work in the SHOP at CAC and participate in onsite and offsite CAC exhibitions. Please contact the Exhibitions Manager at gallery@clayartcenter.org for further information.

CAC offers Professional Development workshops periodically in areas such as taking images, finding gallery representation, writing an artist statement, etc. We also host quarterly “Crit Club” sessions, where CAC Artists gather and discuss work.
