Roberta Shapiro Gimme Some Sugar

Roberta Shapiro Gimme Some Sugar
Gimme Some Sugar / 7 × 5 in. each / $130
Artist Statement:
A sugar bowl can stand alone, a creamer pitcher can stand alone as well, but when they come together, they form a set, a new object that is greater than the sum of its parts. Depending upon their placement, the sugar and creamer seem to be in conversation. Should they face each other, should they be back to back, or just face forward. What could they be saying to each other? How does their juxtaposition influence your thoughts ?
Artist Bio:
I never thought being a ceramic artist was in my future. I started out as a painting major and other than an introductory class in ceramics in college I had no interest until my children started to take neighborhood clay classes. It piqued my curiosity and I started taking classes. I was hooked. My affiliation with the Clay Art Center started over twenty years ago when I started taking classes and workshops as a student. My love for clay grew and after retiring from teaching art I was able to focus on clay and became a full time CAC artist. My work is a reflects my love for the ceramic form and the visual image.
