Stories from Community Arts

Meet Community Arts Assistant Isaith, and learn about Around the World in Clay.

Meet Isaith, a Port Chester resident, Clay Art Center student, and Community Arts assistant. His journey with clay began in our after-school program at John F. Kennedy Elementary School, followed by our Around The World in Clay program. Now, Isaith takes wheel throwing classes and brings his enthusiasm and infectious smile to his role as a Community Arts assistant. We look forward to seeing what Isiath does next in his clay journey at Clay Art Center!

Around the World in Clay is off to a great start! Now that we are a few weeks into our program, we wanted to give you an update about the awesome projects our students are working on. This week, students used coils to build and glaze flower pots under the guidance of our ceramics instructor and Westchester Community Foundation Fellow, Stephanie Perez. We’re happy to see the creativity on display as each student used their own style to create a flower pot that is unique to them.

Around the World in Clay ha tenido un gran comienzo!

Around the World in Clay is supported by the Common Sense Fund, with additional funding made possible by ArtsWestchester, Westchester County government, and County Executive George Latimer, and funding from the New York State Council for the Arts (NYSCA).
