Kickstarting November with Clay Conversations
Friday, November 1st marked the opening of the new exhibition, Clay Conversations: Ceramics from the Gilded to the Digital Age, at the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers, New York. Clay Art Center Second Year Artist in Residence Evelyn Mtika’s Portrait Plates are featured in the exhibition, which highlights the power of ceramics to serve as vessels for personal and political expression. The exhibition was curated by Karintha Lowe (pictured with some of the participating artists), HRM’s Mellon Public Humanities Fellow, and will be on view through March 9th, 2025.
Our Community Arts Team also staffed a clay table at the event as part of Hudson River Museum’s Free First Friday program. Folks were welcomed to stop by, say hello, and engage with clay for free.
Celebrating the spooky season with Clay Art Center staff! Our staff joined in the Halloween fun with some creative costumes - perfect for unloading kiln loads of wonderful work from students and artists!
