Virtual Clay Youth: Cupcake and Ice Cream Sundae Trinket Box class with Zoey B Scheler on Zoom

April 16, 2020

Clay is a hands-on medium so when we first started planning our online clay classes, I didn’t know where to start or if this would even work. The amazing staff at Clay Art Center, alongside our teachers, students and artists, took on the challenge and started innovating. What first seemed like an impossible task has become a reality, and we have developed a full slate of hands-on classes for adults and youth, alongside a series of lectures, tech talks, and demos. Students who have been taking classes with us for years are now learning alongside their peers from across the country and around the world. Kids are having fun learning how to make owls, bunnies, coil pots and more. Adults have the chance to work-on their handle making skills or learn how to make cake stands. We even hosted our first virtual clay birthday party! We are starting curbside clay pick-up next week so it is even easier for students to join us at classes. To thank all of our essential workers for their hard work, we are offering our classes for free to them and their families. And if you are looking for some inspiration for your clay projects, check out the art in our online shop. We are now shipping items so this is a great way to brighten up your new home office/clay studio! While I miss seeing everyone in the studio, I am glad that we are able to offer you ways to continue learning and creating.

Hope to see you in our virtual studio soon!
