As many of you know, I live in Queens (and since I know you’ll ask, it takes about 45 minutes to drive to Clay Art Center during normal times.) However, during this stay at home period, I have been staying with my parents at the house where I grew up in Rye. It gives me more space and easy access to Clay Art Center when I need to check in on things. Every day when I make my way to my temporary home office, I pass by shelves filled with the pottery I created starting in elementary school with a wonderful art program at Midland School and continuing on through summers at Buck’s Rock camp, classes at Rye High School and years of classes at BrickHouse Studio in Long Island City. This daily trip down memory lane is a wonderful reminder of why I fell in love with ceramics and how I ended up where I am today. Ceramics has given me a way to be creative, experiment, and step away from the daily stresses of life, which is needed now more than ever. Together we are inspiring each other and finding new ways to be creative and learn. I am looking forward to getting out some clay and joining you in one of our upcoming virtual classes so I can add another piece to my parents’ ceramic display.

See you in the virtual studio!
