State of Emergence, an exhibition curated by The Color Network in partnership with The Clay Art Center, features the work of 15 Emerging Artists of Color who have just graduated, or are just entering the field of ceramics.
This exhibition speaks to the current state of the world these artists are navigating, with obstacles in the field such as fewer opportunities, resources and lack of physical community. These artists are also invited to address institutional racism, and how organizations and establishments in society are dealing with necessary changes. Additionally, the artists have been invited to explore how they are making connections with each other through the online environment, which has bloomed out of necessity in the current times.
Featured artists include: Sydnie Elizabeth Jiminez, Anthony Romero, Moises Salazar, Jessica Villegas, Karen Jaimes, Laura Caroline Casas, Grace Esther Gittelman, Isolina Minjeong Alva, Alex Paat, Maya Beverly, Catalina Cheng, Ashlyn Pope, Breana Hendricks, Nitza Walesca Rosario and taty hernandez.
