Artist Statement

I am interested in creating pottery that is animated, inviting lively interactions. My wheel-thrown and altered work aims to capture fleeting emotions of celebration and joy that are both personal and shared with others. Sweeping my fingers along the walls and rim of the work after throwing adds personality and breath to my forms. Memories of time spent with family take form in functional pieces through handmade sprig molds, carving and glaze variegation and crystallization. I want my work to accompany people as they move through their lives. My handmade pieces encourage people to slow down, recall small moments of joy, and inspire connection.
