A Learning Community at Clay Art Center!
Growing our culture of tolerance and respect in our studios, classrooms, and workspaces.
As a learning community, who aim to consistently grow our culture of tolerance and respect in the studios, classrooms, and workspaces, we provide many resources that aim to benefit our clay family.
As part of our community guidelines, we aim to use inclusive language and be open to diverse perspectives. To support that goal, we are providing some resources on pronouns and gender identity. We hope you will take a few minutes to read these articles and watch the video, which provides information on the importance of recognizing gender identity, what to say, and what not to say. You can watch this 4-minute video What is Gender?, and you can also read NPR’s have A Guide To Gender Identity Terms, and A4TE’s Guide to Being A Good Ally. Do you have more educational resources to share with us? Feel free to send them to mail@clayartcenter.org so we can expand our learning materials.
Whatever your reason for coming to Clay Art Center, we want to make sure you have access to all the information you need to enjoy your time with us.
“Thank you for the information. Having worked with high school students, I know how important it is to create a safe and inclusive environment. I commend Clay Art Center for their heightened awareness, and it makes me proud to be part of such an inclusive community. Bravo! BTW, I love the fact that Clay Art Center also included a statement about respecting all student work, regardless of skill level. That’s such an important part of arts education.” - Current Clay Art Center Student
