Remembering Arnie Zimmerman

All of us at Clay Art Center mourn the sudden passing of Arnie Zimmerman.

We are at a loss of words and filled with grief and want to send our condolences to Anne and his extended clay family.

Arnie was an internationally recognized artist and was embraced by all in the ceramics community.

We were fortunate to host Arnie's solo exhibition entitled “New Lost City” in the Fall of 2010. It was a landmark exhibition which coincided with the expansion of our Gallery. The installation left the audience in awe of his craftsmanship and how easily he communicated complex concepts through his work. We spent a riveting day at his Williamsburg Studio and later he presented a workshop called “Mining Inspiration” and had us siting on the edge with his stories while demonstrating his skilled ways of magically manipulating clay. It was a unforgettable Fall.

He lived a very active full life and left a treasure trove of artwork and memories for his legacy to live on.
