New Kid on the Block by Cora Greenberg, Interim Executive Director
Although I’ve lived in Westchester for almost 30 years and was vaguely aware of Clay Art Center, I had never visited before arriving on April 1st as the new Interim Executive Director. I was surprised and delighted by what I found:
· An exuberant community of talented artists,
· A vibrant learning environment of committed teachers and enthusiastic students,
· Highly skilled professional staff,
· Passionate Board members,
· Strong connections with the Port Chester schools and community,
· A showplace for ceramic arts,
· A place for individuals of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to experience the joy of “mud”!
I also found out that it is a mistake to wear black shoes in a ceramics studio!
But that is a small price to pay for being part of this dynamic organization. Clay Art Center is in transition as it gets ready to find its next permanent Executive Director. I’m lucky to be here to help make the transition a smooth and positive one.
Can’t wait to see how Clay Art Center develops and grows during its next chapter! Stay tuned as we continue to grow and thrive. Stop by and visit our Gallery and shop, where you can see and buy original pottery and ceramic art. Sign up for a drop-in class (Cladies Night anyone?) or bring the kids for a family session at the wheel. Or sign up for a class to begin or deepen your love affair with ceramics.
You might be surprised, but you won’t be disappointed!
