Intro to Pottery Wheel Party (Ages 10+)
Ready for a fun and messy challenge? Try out the pottery wheel in an introductory pottery wheel class! Have fun learning the basics, and make something round, or not round, to keep! For a party of minors, a parent/guardian must be present in class.
Each student learns on an individual pottery wheel.
Students pick one piece to keep and will pick one glaze color at the end. Staff will glaze the projects at a later date
Maximum of 10 or 12 students depending on the classroom available.
This option is recommended if the students are open to the process, and not set on making a specific project. This is an introductory class for the technique.
Sculpt and Paint Party (Ages 6+)
Handbuild, sculpt, and color trinket boxes, fairies, monsters, a cereal bowl, or whatever you like! For a party of minors, a parent/guardian must be present in class.
Each student makes their own project by hand and paints the project with glaze in one session.
Students keep one medium to large piece each, or two small pieces.
Maximum of 12 students.
This option is recommended if you want to make a specific project.

Experience-based, not object-based: While Clay Art Center makes every effort to help participants make beautiful and successful works of art during their party, we cannot guarantee perfect results because of the fragile and unpredictable nature of clay and the firing process. Works might crack or break during the firing or glazing process and glazes can have unpredictable results. As with any ceramic project, some objects might not make it through the firing process. These classes are geared towards a creative “making” experience rather than an end product. That said, projects made by party participants will be glazed and fired in a timely manner and with the utmost care.
