RESIDENT SLIDE NIGHT
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH, 5 - 7PM

We are welcoming three new artists-in-residents and one returning artist-in-resident for 2019-2020. They will be teaching classes this year and will be a great addition to the Clay Art Center family!

Come welcome and meet all of them on September 6th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at our Resident Slide Night where they will be sharing their clay journey in this evening slide lecture. This event is free and open to the public.

Austin Coudriet holds a BFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His work highlights the interaction between architecture and amorphous forms with some abstract sculptures being life-size. Austin is looking forward to teaching because his personal career goals are to be both a maker and an instructor. He will be teaching Intro to Ceramics and Sculpture Foundations this fall.

Christine Fashion is our returning resident. She holds a BFA from Penn State University. In 2017 she was awarded 2017 Windgate Fellowship for her project, Collections: Hierachy and Value. Before coming to Port Chester, she worked at GoogleWorks Center for the Arts in Reading, PA. She recently was part of our concurrent solo exhibition by Artists-in-Residence where she featured her small works in “In a Pinch”. Fashion makes and collects objects to create and to connect her own ideas of identity. She will be teaching Beginners & Beyond and Clay 102 this fall.

Nicole Peters is Clay Art Center’s Westchester Community Foundation’s Young Artist Fellow. She received her BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University. Before coming to Port Chester she was teaching ceramics in Denver, Colorado. Nicole is interested in themes such as ritual repetition, folklore and childhood memories which she expresses in installations of miniature works. She will be teaching a number of youth classes this fall.

James Webb holds a BFA from Eastern Kentucky University and a MFA from Southern Illinois University. Prior to coming to Clay Art Center James taught at Mudflat Pottery School in Sommerville, MA. His sculptural works have been exhibited widely and won many awards. He will be teaching Pottery ABC, Clay Exploration and Built by Hand this fall.
