Hand In Hand with Community!
Learn more about how YOU empower Clay Art Center to serve the local community!
Clay Art Center is dedicated to enriching the Port Chester community. Thanks to a range of grants, donations, and fundraising efforts, we can continue our important work. One of our key events is the Annual Hand In Hand Benefit and Auction, which plays a vital role in our fundraising efforts. Here are just some of the things your tickets and donations to Hand in Hand supported at Clay Art Center last year…
104 free weekly after-school classes for Port Chester public-school students as part of Around the World in Clay, our long-running after-school program which exposes students to different cultures and ceramics traditions.
43 free weekly after-school classes through our partnership with the Don Bosco Center, where elementary students are encouraged to explore their creativity through different ceramic techniques and craft their own artistic style.
22 free clay classes for those whose lives have been touched by cancer in one way or another through the Cancer Support Community Greater NY & CT. Students in the past year have created pitchers, wind chimes, and self portraits and can attest to the therapeutic nature of working with clay.
24 free clay classes for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities through our partnership with Sparc Link Up, a Westchester non-profit that provides social, therapeutic, recreational, art, athletic, and wellness programs.
13 paid internships for local high school students, who assist our Community Arts classes, summer camp, and with tasks around the studio.
Free one-time classes for groups like Blue Heart Forever Project, a Port Chester-based support group for Spanish-speaking families with children in special education.
A free clay class for participants of the Special Citizens Summer Camp at the Port Chester Senior Center.
7 clay tables for local community events to spread the joy of working with clay and get the word out about the awesome programming we offer.
Completion of the mosaic stairs at Port Chester Middle School, a multi-year public art project with tiles created by Middle School students that adds a pop of color and helps beautify the school campus.
Discounts for one-time workshops, like the Coming Home workshop, organized by the Rye Presbyterian Church. With a focus on restorative community, the workshop caters to those who have been recently incarcerated.
Partial funding for clay classes with the Port Chester Recreation Department, a low-cost ceramics class for elementary students in the Port Chester community.
Firing fees for hundreds, (if not thousands!) of ceramic pieces.
12 decorative wall tiles made by the staff at the local Salvation Army.
5 participants in our ongoing partnership with Hope House, a place where people recovering from behavioral health conditions find the support needed to pursue their goals.
2 Community Arts program staff to make all of this work possible.
1 Community Arts Fellow to load it all into the kiln.
You don’t have to look far to witness the impact of Clay Art Center’s fundraising efforts. Our partner organizations and the individuals we support are all part of our local community, including our cherished town of Port Chester and surrounding areas in Westchester and Fairfield counties. Thank you for helping us continue to touch lives through clay!
