Clay Art Center is proud to present:
Concurrent Solo Exhibitions by Artists in Residence (2022-2023)
In the Gallery and Online, June 22 - August 04, 2023
Utilizing the entire space of the Clay Art Center Gallery and Resource Room, the exhibitions feature the work of Avery Wells (Resident), Jon Green (Rittenberg Resident) and Jess Levin (Westchester Community Foundation Fellow).
The works presented here draw on the artists’ intuitive responses to their material to explore their own personal narratives, influenced by the experiences, objects and people that have shaped their lives. Clay is the common language in these three bodies of work, allowing the artists to share intimate stories, explore relationships, and invite critical dialog about occupied spaces, both real and imagined.
For 25 years, emerging artists have been advancing their careers at Clay Art Center in our nationally recognized Artist in Residence Program. The past two and a half decades have seen over 50 young artists get the chance to launch their artistic careers and gain valuable skills in teaching.
Clay Art Center’s Residency Program
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Clay Art Center’s artist-in-residence program, started in 1998 by Director Emeritus Reena Kashyap.
The Residency program, which commences each year in September, is designed for emerging artists to have the time and space to develop their voices. Residents gain invaluable experience working in a community environment, teaching classes, sharing their technical knowledge and expertise, and managing many jobs around the studio. Through a competitive process, these artists come to Port Chester from across the country and are now thriving in their careers around the globe. Learn More.
The Westchester Community Fellow is funded by the Westchester Community Foundation: The Emily & Harold Valentine and Evelyn Gable Clark Scholarship Fund Young Artist Residency.
