In 2021, Clay Art Center is proud to present the work of three Artists In Residence. Utilizing the entire space of the Clay Art Center Gallery and Resource Room, the exhibition features the work of Austin Coudriet (Resident 2019 - 2021), Maria Spiess (Rittenberg Fellow 2020 – 2021), and James Lee Webb (Rittenberg Fellow 2019 - 2020)

For 23 years, emerging artists have been advancing their careers at Clay Art Center in our nationally recognized Artist-in-Residence Program. The past two decades have seen 50 young artists get the chance to launch their artistic careers and gain valuable skills in teaching.

The works presented here draw on the artists’ intuitive responses to their material to explore their own personal narratives, influenced by the experiences, objects and people that have shaped their lives. Clay is the common language in these three bodies of work, allowing the artists to share intimate stories, explore relationships, and deepen our understanding of human interaction on the world around us.
